How it works
- Preparation: This step prepares the dataset to be encrypted. It must provide this data to PRODIST STS, which will prepare the SFN packet by applying encryption, a digital signature, compression, and a security header;
- Encryption: All messages and files transmitted via the SFN protocol must be signed and encrypted and include a security header containing the information necessary to access the encrypted content. Some files may also require compression and character conversion. These activities are performed by PRODIST STS;
- Shipping: Once you have the SFN package ready, you must send it to its destination using the shipping method chosen by your institution;
- Reading: Reading the data involves opening the packet and decrypting it; if necessary, decompressing it and converting the characters; and verifying the signature using the key used to protect the content and the digital certificate of the signer;
- Key management: For the SFN packaging or unpackaging process, you will need to generate, store, and protect the signature keys. The entire key management process is handled by PRODIST STS.
