New BACEN security protocol

The need to replace 3DES with a more secure algorithm is not news to anyone else. As of 2019, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in a special publication, recommends that the algorithm change be made by 2023. If 3DES is becoming obsolete because of its vulnerabilities, why wait another 2 years?

Attentive to BACEN's guidelines, we know that a new version of the SFN security protocol is on the horizon. The official schedule stipulates the start of the approval process on 07/03/2022, with production expected to begin on 02/04/2022.

The new version of RSFN CLUSTER will be available from 01/09/2021 for the start of homologation tests. RSFN CLUSTER 7.0 has all the functions of STS RSFN version 5.5 and earlier, plus all the mandatory changes of the third version of the RSFN security protocol.
